Had to phone Admiral Car Insurance to update my payment details - what a shambles.

First of all they want you to phone an 0870 telephone number at 10p per minute. Most “free” telephone calls on mobiles and land lines exclude calles to numbers starting 08. Through saynoto0870.com I was able to find the local number, and call it instead - 0870 548 2000 becomes 02920 633 514. 02 Numbers are included in most free call plans, so the call becomes free.

Well the call took 22 mins and 43 seconds to complete. I kept being told “your call is important to us, please continue to hold” for near 18 minutes. If it’s that important why am I waiting so long? Ah, at 10 pence per minute when you phone the 0870 number that’s can add up to a nice tidy sum at the end of the day.

When the advior finally ansered the phone the first thing I asked for was a discount for having to be on the phone for so long - managed to get a £20 discount - result! You don’t ask you don’t get
