Road Works Shambles

Slateford Road (near to Slateford Station) is currently closed at weekends to allow the road to be resurfaced.  Diversion rout for east-bound traffic is up Craiglochart Avenue, down Colinton Road, then along Ashley Terrace / Shandon Place back on to Slateford Road.

All sounds fine until Scottish Gas decide to dig up the junction of Shandon Place and Slateford Road.   Absolute Gridlock.

Utility companies are supposed to get permission from the Council before digging up the roads.  So why did the council not change the diversion route?

Update – Both sets of Roadworks are in the weekly Clarence Road Work Report - so the council knew well in advance that the diversion route for the Slateford Road closure would head towards major roadworks.
